About

Dr. Pinelopi Xenoudi graduated from the University of Athens, Dental School with the Degree of Dental Surgeon in 2003. The following year she was accepted to Louisiana State University where she completed a dual certificate/degree program in Periodontics and Master in Oral Biology. She achieved the Diplomate Status of the American Board of Periodontology in 2008. The same year she was part of the team that lead the new postgraduate program in Periodontics at the University of Colorado through its initial accreditation. She served as an Assistant Program Director for 2 years and then she was appointed as the new Director of Postgraduate Periodontics. After spending 5 years at the University of Colorado, she was again recruited by University of California San Francisco where she served as the Predoctoral and then as the Postgraduate Program Director in Periodontics.

Since 2015 she has been participating in Interprofessional Education collaborating with the UCSF schools of Medicine and Nursing, focusing on teaching effective communication skills, creating team-based protocols and procedures, and overcoming educational barriers. In 2017 she become a member of the Academy of Medical Educators. She has published in several peered reviewed journals. Dr. Xenoudi created and incorporated Laser education curriculum in the Postgraduate program, making UCSF the First Dental School in California to formally introduce official Nd:Yag laser certification in the program.

Dr. Xenoudi’s main interests include control of periodontal disease and medically compromised patients, laser mediated wound healing and curriculum development. Dr. Xenoudi has lectured nationally and internationally on interdisciplinary treatment and education, soft tissue manipulation, peri-implantitis, laser- tissue interaction and wound healing.

In July 2020, Dr. Xenoudi was recruited to be the new Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and the Interim Associate Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs at California Northstate University, College of Dental Medicine. Her charge is to recruit a diverse student body and lead the creation of a state-of-the-art facilities, making them the safest and one of the most technologically advanced places to learn, treat and be treated. She is looking forward to accepting the first graduates to the new DMD program at the California Northstate College of Dental Medicine.
